 About Nikki and Anne

BY NIKKI AND ANNE HEART ♥  2025

Hi, I’m Nikki and my mom is Anne.

So glad you stopped by!

Let’s begin.

Nikki and Anne Heart are the founders and creative force behind Symptomsofadrugprescription.

What began as a personal journey, developed into a mother and daughter self-awareness writing team.

Through their journey, they share straight forward information that empowers individuals to make an informed medical decision.

These journeys are drawn directly from years of personal journals and medical notes, chronicling a deeply personal and often painful path through the world of prescription drugs.

Our journey.

Our journey began during Nikki’s first year of college when she desperately reached out for help with her depression.

The truth was Nikki had always had problems with negative thinking. She often repressed her complicated and cumbersome thoughts, because she had no outlet to get rid of them. These negative thoughts tortured her to the point of mere destruction. To the point that Nikki tried to kill herself.

Over the years, she became afflicted by more challenges due to misinformation and lack of adequate healthcare.

After seven years, nineteen drugs, two supplements, four doctors, one nurse practioner, and all the false hope that was given, Nikki decided to take charge of her own life.

Taking charge.

Allowing myself to simply be me has been one of the most liberating shifts in my journey.

I’ve come to recognize that I don’t need to be “fixed” to live a happy and healthy life.

Healing isn’t about perfection—it’s about presence. I’ve learned that no single treatment works for everyone,  and that’s okay. What matters is finding what resonates with me.

Self-care is a lifelong commitment, but it doesn’t have to consume my life. It’s about balance, not obsession.

I’ve also realized that no self-help program works all the time, and that’s not a failure—it’s a reminder to stay flexible and curious. So I keep questioning, researching, analyzing—because growth is an ongoing  conversation, not a final destination.

Writing a self-help book.

After earning a BA  in psychology, Nikki began seeing things more clearly about herself and negative thoughts.  She became passionate about the human brain and delved into years of research.

This journey of self-discovery and learning culminated in Nikki’s debut self-help book, co-written with her mom, Anne.

Let's Get to Know Us
About me, Nikki….

I love all animals. I grew up always with a dog, a hamster, a guinea pig, fish, and now I have an adorable holland lop rabbit. And for a small fuzz bucket, he is a lot of work.

Riding horses has always been a passion of mine. I started at eight years old and owned a rescue for many years. That’s another story for another time.

And I am a runner. I always ran as a sprinter, but now I run distance. I started running to help clear my head. Since running in my first half marathon, I realize I do enjoy it.

During the years I navigated the challenges of prescription drugs, I somehow found the strength to earn a degree in Psychology and work professionally in the field. That chapter of my life, though difficult, laid a foundation of insight and empathy that continues to shape my journey.

Withdrawing from medication marked a profound turning point. While my path shifted, I credit my academic and work experience in the psychology field for guiding me toward a more authentic direction—one rooted in wellness, creativity, and meaningful connection.

Today, I feel aligned with my true purpose. As a writer and artist, I find joy in crafting fine art illustrations that complement and deepen my storytelling. My work is not just expressive—it’s intentional.

Combining my artistic talents with my background in psychology and education, I now run a thriving art workshop business that offers therapeutic support through creative engagement.

So now a little bit about Anne…

After years of watching my daughter suffer through an inaccurate health care treatment program, I now focus on helping Nikki move forward in her life as well as moving forward in my own.

Being recently retired from my real estate business, I have the time to help Nikki with the administrative aspects of her art business.

And for my own self peace, I currently work outside the home providing insightful individual organizational services.

Creating this website has been both challenging and rewarding for me. Now in my sixties, learning the ins and outs of social media, website building, etc. has been a difficult challenge for me to say the least. But when I think about all the people out there going through what my daughter, Nikki, went through, that’s what keeps me pushing to get it done.

Nikki and Anne together…

Our goal always is to help others lead a happy and healthier lifestyle.

We are first to acknowledge that nothing is perfect. That there are no miracle cures nor quick fixes.

But we do know that basic knowledge and awareness can help lead you in the right direction towards finding effective help.
